DIY Saga...Part II

I am deliciously obsessed with Vintage Glamour and equally obsessed with silhouettes. They had to go somewhere..anywhere in my wedding so I decided they would grace the Menus or as I called them Le Menus...and the Sweetheart table. I wanted something different and retro for the sweetheart table, so I made these and attached the coordinating vintage ribbon that was on our champagne flutes and cake cutting set. The menus were very easy once I had a direction, I mixed to retro fonts and got to printing and voila...I really could paper the walls with these lovelies!!

The very first moment I have felt any wedding regret!! I would have given an arm and some leg to have these at my wedding! These are perfect party props and what amazing props for a photo booth....

The Coquette Dress..and why I fell in love

I was not one of those brides who had a million pictures of what I wanted and ended up with something totally different. I KNEW what I wanted and I ended up with exactly that.

I knew I wanted fitted, mermaid shape, nothing sparkly or white. It had to have a vintage feel to it, be comfortable but most importantly I wanted straps!! I don't know why, but I insisted the dress have some kind of sleeve or strap...it was a completeness that made it feel retro to me.

It was the 3rd dress I tried on and it was love at first sight. It was absolutely perfect and so comfortable, I did not need a bra and special underwear was so unnecessary...

A big thank you to Alyssa for sharing these beautiful engagement photos with us and for sharing a bit of insight on them. I was taken by how these pics are almost in motion. They capture the emotion of these two love birds but in a way that makes me feel like if I printed them and made a flip book it would be really stunning.

What was the feeling you were going for with this session?

I have to say that the location is a place where we have been going since we started dating (almost 5 years) just either for a nice (cheap) date, a walk around the pond, or even to have alone time. It's so quiet and serene and has such a gorgeous, romantic backdrop...we didn't even think twice about having our epics taken there. That basically sums up the feel of what we wanted the pictures to reflect: romantic, serene, lush, colorful, and playful.

As far as favorite pics, i like too many of them. The candids I especially love because they really caught a true moment between John and I. The 1 black and white I love b/c of the depth of the photo with the flowers, the one i have as my main FB photo, the ones of us on the bench, by the tree, the smoking one etc, etc.

The Saga of the DIY..

There were many additions to the wedding that I just had to make myself. Some were really simple and some I could have just dug my head in the ground like an ostrich for even getting my self into but nonetheless, I finished everything I started even if it was overkill...I am a determined little Coquette. Here are some Paper Projects....

Needless to say, the accommodation and directions insert caused me much drama because of course what the hotel and reception hall gave me was insufficient in my eyes..it simply would not do and I had to do something that matched! So, I got busy and voila, the booklet was born...

I remember going through my parents wedding guest book and wedding cards when I was younger and I know that I wanted a book that our children could easily go through when they wanted to. I purchased a Martha Stewart Archival Album, and embellished the pages with vintage style blank postcards that I printed myself and black photo corners. The effect was gorgeous and each page looks like it has an authentic vintage postcard because everyone had a different style of filling it in, little doodles and special messages made the book come alive. My mom found that gorgeous feather pen which she gave to me on my bridal shower and it tied the entire vintage glam vibe together...Swoon.

The Coquette Paper Chase...

I went through so many changes when it came to the invitations...I agonized over it more than my wedding dress. I knew it would set the tone or the entire event so I knew I wanted letterpress but I was hellbent on researching every option in the universe.

I came very close to choosing this William Arthur invite. It had all the qualities I wanted, Ecru, Rounded Corners, Gold Edges and I would definitely get rid of the ribbon. It was vintage and sophisticated, absolutely perfect, except for one thing..it only came engraved not letterpressed...
oh, the insanity, of me wanting to feel indented print instead of raised print...how I was not committed is a miracle...

After, agonizing I decided I could not compromise..I would have my letterpress and then I found an unbelievable Etsian who understood me and gave me this....

Every last little piece was letterpressed, the belly band, the return address event he motif on the envelopes...oh yes, Coquettes, my insanity paid off...

My flowergirl goes by The Bean, she is the uber Coquette in training and she was ALL ABOUT going dress shopping. She would dream about and discuss about how she would wear her hair and what shoes she would wear.

The Venue...

There were many things about our wedding that I was adamant about the main one being the venue.

It had to be a few things and mostly not a catering hall..lol. I wanted an off the beaten path venue that was charming small and almost felt like we were in a home. I was not interested in ice sculptures and exotic stations, I wanted it to be a warm environment and I wanted the food to be simply delicious. I found that the more a venue was able to focus on doing a few things well, instead of doing a million things just for the wow factor, they managed to be fundamentally excellent.

I did not have to go many places because I knew that I adored The Old Field Club in Setauket since the moment I stepped foot in year about 5 years before.It was quaint and beautiful and I was oddly obsessed with the drive to the venue, the route that led you to the OFC was so unbelievably beautiful and scenic, I could not wait for my guests to be excited for our wedding and take that ride. Not to mention, how excited I was about taking that ride to see my husband to be!

A Coquette Engagement

Prima Coquette and Mr. Coquette spend the day in NYC running around on a gorgeous September day and yes, the shoes were killing me but the pain was worth it.

Most of our favorite movies are old movies set in NYC..so it was natural that we wanted to be in the nitty gritty, hustle and bustle if it. It was an amazing experience to just walk around and find cool places to stop and take pics, even though at any given time there were a thousand people standing and staring..I, being the ham that I am, had no issue but the hubby was certainly uncomfortable at the beginning, but as you can see his vain, GQ side kicked and he was doing just fine.

My FAVORITE photo, is the one of us at the table. The gingham tablecloth, the kiss..SWOON...it's like Lady and the Tramp.

This was a key element in the wedding planning, I tried to keep them interesting and light and funny even though, I am sure there were some eye rolls when they made it into the email box. But nonetheless..it was important to me that everyone had all the info at all times...therefore I was never hit with the "I had no idea" excuse..also, you did not have to make a million phone calls and I was sure to keep everyone updated on each others lives and accomplishments so it was actually super fun...here are some of my Fellowship of the Ring Newsletters..

I Promise Not to Make You Wear an Ugly Dress..

The next natural step for me was establishing what the Fellowship of the Ring (Bridesmaids) would be wearing.

I knew I wanted high glamour, big hair, chunky jewelry and NO SATIN..lol. I have nothing against satin, per say, but who decided that all bridesmaids dresses have to be satin. I wanted flowy and most of all flattering...I was not tied to any color either. I believe that the dress should dictate the color, some dresses look gorgeous in specific colors and fall flat in others. It is important to be opened-minded in regards to what will complement the dress and your wedding. Here are some of the contenders, as well as the winner...

I LOVED this but it was a Nordstrom summer dress and by the time we were ready to order there were not enough sizes available...bleh..

This had the makings of being perfect because it was flowy and I loved embellishments but it was a clingy stretchy material..the kind that shows rivers and canyons..if you know what I mean...lol

This is just plain gorgeous but it was satin and the whole back being out proved to be a bit of an issue for anyone who was not a Victoria Secret model...

I knew pretty early on I wanted an Old Hollywood Glamour type of soiree...
I toyed with the idea of amending this classic Breakfast at Tiffany's photo and turning it into a magnet. I actually did and have still 100 of them to prove it, lol... but after they arrived I was just not that thrilled with them...

So, I was back to the drawing board, I wanted glamour but I did not want it to be too themish so I came up with these...

I still insisted on a magnet because I know the convenience of when I received them but this time we went with a subtle and oh so coquette chic chandelier and and a separate insert card. I loved how the card motif seemed like the logo for the old movie staple of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or MGM...grrrrr..loving the lions...we tied it all together with a custom address stamp and sent them on their merry way...

It was a chilly March evening when Mr. Coquette and I had just finished watching that uber romantic film American Gangster...he has been pestering me to pick a romantic comedy and I immediately scoffed and insisted on my need for the glory,that is Denzel Washington as a notorious drug lord...he let me have my way and after it was over and I was half asleep and on my ninth dream...Mr. Coquette presented me with the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen...his words were not eloquent but so heartfelt, it is hard to say because it was hard to hear over the sounds of my screams...lol...

A Coquette Trash the Dress Shoot

What was the feeling you were trying to go for with this session?:

When I got to the site I was in taken by the breath taking views.

This time around for pictures, the hubby and I are were so relaxed and it was amazing because I think during your wedding you are so nervous and worry about everything going on.This time around it was just him and me. We were able to just let go and have so much fun.

Which is your favorite picture and why?:

I love the one of me alone coming out of the water on the rocks because my husband said that is when you see my true beauty. He said that he is blowing that picture up for his office and that is how he wants to remember me when we grew old.

A Coquette After Wedding Session

How gorgeous is Allegra...she looks so happy she could burst. Mariann from Blue Daisy has done it again. Allegra was awesome enough to give us some insight on her amazing photos.

What feeling were you going for in these pics?

The day of our wedding was practically a monsoon, as was much of June 2009. The weather didn't slow us down one bit one our wedding day however, we took refuge inside The Royalton and did all of our photos inside the gorgeous mansion. When our photographer Mariann of Blue Daisy Weddings suggested we come back at the end of the summer to shoot some portraits in the garden (where our wedding ceremony and photos were supposed to take place), I was BEYOND stoked! Any opportunity to get dolled up and shoot with Mariann I (and Michael haha) will take! We planned the shoot for a Tuesday evening the first week of Septmeber. It was a gorgeous evening! We started at The Royalton in the garden, and on the lawns. We brought our Shih-Tzu Abby along for some fun as well! She wasn't a part of our wedding day, so it was really fun to play with her in the gardens at the Royalton. She's a ham! We then took a short car ride to the school playground behind our house for some more fun times. We got to play on the slide, the swings, and Michael took off upside down on the slide bar! Mariann and I were hysterical! It was a great evening, so much fun!
Michael and I decided to go with a real "day-after" concept for the look of our shoot. I had my hair up for the wedding, so we did my hair long and flowing, slightly pulled back. It was meant to look as if I had taken out my updo and my hair was flowing free and natural. We decided against bouquets, and boutonieres. We wanted it to be as natural possible. I replaced Michael's bout with a purple pocket square to compliment my bow. Mariann suggested we get some balloons in our colors to add to the youthful feel of the shoot.

Which is your favorite photo and why?

My absolute favorite photo is the one of the two of us in the red slide. It looks like there's a lot of space in there, but it was REALLY hard to get in there with my huge gown, AND fit Michael in there too! It was hard! My heart was racing after those shots! You can see how big our smiles are, and how much fun we're truly having.

But we all know the the Coquettes adores the unusual...how about a Fall wedding that centers on a gorgeous White pumpkin! I definitely SWOONED when I saw these..what a refreshing take on an old classic...paired with black accents...Coquettes it's a home run..
You can also see that paired with unexpected jeweled tones like the table setting below is a refreshing treat!

Having a hard time finding white pumpkins.....well do not fret, apparently they are super easy to paint white...!!

During my many Coquette trips to the Post Office, I am rarely inspired but yesterdays visit was something different...As I stood there laden with coquette deliveries I spied with my little eye, these lovelies.....

Now the Prima Coquette had to play it cool and not let all the other Post Office patrons know what I gold mine these stamps were...with my heart pounding, I asked the teller in my most uninterested, glamorous, Old Hollywood way...

"I need to ship these packages..Oh, and throw in 8 sheets of those Gary Cooper stamps"...

It helps to look at your cell phone or something at the end of the sentence, so you can hide your excitement and not let the jig up!

The teller did look at me bizarrely but I was cool as a cucumber, even arched one eyebrow in a what you looking at fashion!!

So coquettes, is it bizarre that I completely purchased these stamps before I even finished designing my thank you card and have no idea what the weight will be?? I could not help myself, I mailed my wedding invites via Bette Davis and she rocked. I am mesmerized by his eyes and plan to calligraphy them in the same color ink...Oh, Gary..you tempt me so...

What was the theme or feeling you were trying to get with your engagement photos:

Well the reason I choose the American Museum of Natural History is
because we used to go there often when we first began dating since it
was a cheap date, LOL!!! You could spend the day there and it
wouldn't cost that much. We are both in the science field as well so
it was an interesting place to see and there was always something new.
In addition, I wanted to pick a unique location to get pictures that
nobody else would have.

Below are Cindy's favorite pic and she also shared with us why they makes her swoon..

These are some of my favorites.... The 1st pic I love because of the
great background, the 2nd picture is great because we are so natural and I
love the shadow on the fossil, the 3rd picture looks like quintessential NYC
picture and we are very natural, and the 4th picture conveys a soft and
touching moment that I love. Lastly, the 5th picture, I love too since I could
see us with kids next to us observing..I don't know it just touches me.

Theme, if any:

I received tickets to a wedding workshop about a year and 2 months before our wedding and there was a panel of vendors who the audience was encouraged to question on anything. My question was, “Everyone talks about their theme, but what if you don’t have a theme? I just want my wedding to be elegant and fully us! Am I a bad bride because I don’t have a theme per say?” I got a few chuckles, but I was totally serious, all I knew was that we wanted people to leave our wedding and feel like we were a couple that was in love and that they had a great time! The vendors at the workshop assured me that a non-theme approach does not make a bad bride. They encouraged me to shout for elegance as my theme and reassured me that everything would fall together. They were right! I picked the bridesmaids dresses in Graphite (charcoal-ish grey) first. I started choosing things in ivory to match my dress and well, it is a very elegant color. Then the flowers brought it into place. At our first floral appointments all we knew that we wanted was Tropical-esq flowers with colors that would pop. We booked with Nadia of Pedestals and we were very sure of our choices, until about 6 months before the wedding when I brought my mom in to Pedestals to see what we picked. When we walked into the showroom, there was a gorgeous blue and lavender orchid high centerpiece with palm leaves that we fell in LOVE with. It was elegant, different, and had a little Jenn twist! All of a sudden in that room, everything changed and my theme became a mix of graphite, ivory, lavender, blue, orchids, and crystals!

Describe your wedding dress and why you chose it:

Just like most brides, I was really eager to get the dress shopping started! About 2 weeks after we were engaged I took my mom and my future mother in-law with me shopping all over Long Island. I found a few options that I loved and thought that one of them was actually the one. My mom encouraged me to shop more and I am sooooo happy I that I did because what I thought was my “that’s it” dress moment, was completely out shown by the real “that’s it” moment! I saw the dress online at Priscilla of Boston and loved it, but as we all know, we need to see it on ourselves. I took my mom into the city one day with 3 bridesmaids to see it in person. As cliché as it is to say, when I put the dress on I just knew! I felt like a bride, but more importantly, I felt like I found the look of myself as a bride. It just worked! It was a ball gown with amazing crystal detailing all over! The train was dramatic and the bodice fit my perfect wedding dress vision! The tears streamed down my face and I knew that this one was THE ONE!

Your Favorite Wedding Detail:

I can’t pick just one, details are my thing! I am a very detailed orientated person and I tend to do my best work last minute too so it is a very deadly combo! First thing that comes to mind when we say detail is the crystals that I glued on to everything that I could! Two nights before my wedding I had some friends come over and basically put together a crystal factory. We hot glue gunned crystals on the menu’s, favors, drink menus, programs, flower toss cylinders, etc! I will be the first to admit that many people at a wedding probably wouldn’t even notice these crystals, but I would notice and I appreciate when a bride goes that extra step! Another detail that I really loved was my table numbers. I put a lot of time and energy into the table numbers. My husband and I love the city and a lot of our relationship story has taken place in the city. Because of the importance of the role of the city in our lives, for our engagement shoot I had this idea to go into the city and take shots at all different landmarks and change outfits too. I wanted to use a different landmark shot at each of the table numbers. So for example, table 6 could be a shot of us at the Plaza. When all was said and done we had 2 different photo shoots to get all of the locations shot, one in the fall and one in the spring and what a good sport my hubby was! It didn’t stop there though. While watching The Sex and the City Movie, I became drawn to the book that Carrie was reading, Love Poems of Great Men. Now, this book doesn’t exist, but months after the movie came out I found a book that was created based on this idea. I photocopied excerpts from the book and sent them over to a very talented woman that I was tipped to from a friend. Christina Molina put the whole idea together and I couldn’t have been happier!

The Moment You Remember The Most:

The 1 moment??? Ahhh I can’t do just one…

I remember standing in the entrance of my church on the right and crying as I watched the bridesmaids & groomsmen go 2 by 2 down the aisle. My dad was holding my arm and I just couldn’t stop tearing. My dad and I shared some words and he had calm and even laughing and it was a moment that I will never forget. The aisle was very long and my eyesight isn’t the best, so the emotions hit me again when I actually saw my soon to be hubby waiting at the front of the aisle. It was a flutter of tears and utter happiness seeing Anthony there waiting for me. He looked so handsome and so excited…it was magical!
Right before the reception, my maitre’d brought us into the room to see it and it was amazing seeing how it all came together! Anthony and I danced together for a shot for my videographer and we talked about how in the next few minutes the room would be filled with all of our family and friends and how it was going to be a fabulous evening! We were sincerely excited for the night ahead of us!
All day the weather was playing games with us, so I was praying for an outdoor cocktail hour. Once I got that I promised that I wouldn’t push for the outdoor Viennese Hour too. However, I strongly remember my maitre’d came up to me and shared the news that the Viennese Hour would be outside too! I was flipping out and so excited!
When we showed the same day movie trailer from Penny Lane Productions it was incredible. That room that was holding about 250 people all of a sudden felt like our living room. We all gathered together around the plasmas to watch what Adam created from the beginning of the day until moments before. I will attach the link to the video below.
Our last song was supposed to be “Don’t Stop Believing.” We love the Journey version and also love the new version so our DJ made a special mix of it and got everyone to be on the dance floor and in a circle. It was like straight out of a old school movie! We all sang and danced to the song and Anthony & I got in the middle of circle- it was awesome! The energy in the room was overwhelming and we felt so much love! The DJ kept playing because he said the vibe was too perfect to just stop there!

One thing you would change knowing what you know now:

Hmmm I honestly don’t know… I just think that I would have just put my air fresheners on the tables instead of handing them out at the end. It is so minimal but I stressed the importance of handing them out at the end and many people didn’t get to take them because they didn’t see them there. But the point is that I wouldn’t stress over the small stuff!

Oh...Jamie is a Coquette Bride after my own heart. Not only did I enjoy, beyond words, reading her interview but we have, my darlings, our very first set of Coquette Dogs! Her attention to detail and her ideas really tickled me and you know I soft spot I have for props and grandmas!
I adored her cake and the fact that she had peonies...oh, be still my heart! You can tell a lot of work and love went into this event wedding and it paid off!

Theme, if any:

The theme of our wedding changed so many times from the moment we got engaged! Pre-engagement, I always dreamed of a red wedding, but then i started seeing it done everywhere. I like to be artistic and original! I started to dream of something much more vintage. Ivory lace paired with modern black damask and splashes of the perfect colored deep hot pink won! Throughout the entire planning process, I was very serious about using perfectly matched colors and the absolute exact shade of deep hot pink that i dreamed of. I did budge away from black with my bridal party, though, because their dresses looked so amazing in dark gray iridescent taffeta!

Describe your wedding dress and why you chose it:

Wedding dress shopping turned out to be a nightmare! As a newly engaged woman, i was beyond thrilled to start looking at dresses online. I was positive I would love at least a few of the gowns that I found online. I had a terrible time finding the ones i wanted to try on anywhere in the Northeast, some were teeny tiny samples, and others were just awful up close! After an exhaustive search, our final destination was Kleinfeld's. We ended up having an absolutely amazing experience there and I found the perfect ivory lace dress with an asymmetrical dropped waste and subtle crystals and pearls! My Mom said Yes to the Dress the moment she saw me in it!

Your Favorite Wedding Detail:

This question is super tough because we had SO MANY details from welcome baskets to slipper baskets to a huge custom cardbox to wedding day outfits for the dogs to the candy bar! I tried my best not to leave a single stone unturned, and I wanted our guests to be absolutely taken care of the entire weekend. This wasn't just a wedding, it was an event weekend! I absolutely adored my dress and cathedral length veil. I had my shoes died the perfect color of deep hot pink. My beautifully original headband was custom designed by a wonderful designer, TS Tiara, in LA. I got to carry gorgeous peonies that continued to open as the day progressed! If i really have to pick just one detail, it would be the pew wreaths that my Mom slaved over for months and months leading up to the wedding. They were composed of individual tissue paper flowers, all hand crafted. After the church, our fabulous coordinator Francesca and team of Dazzling Affairs had them set up during cocktail hour surrounding candles. (My Mom also made the beautiful Jr. Bridesmaid dress because she was in between flower girl and bridesmaid sizes...and her dress just came out so good!)

The Moment You Remember The Most:

My absolute favorite part of the day, aside from marrying my wonderful husband, was sitting with him at our dais table looking out at this huge room full of all of closest friends and family, and knowing they were all there just for us. It's such an overwhelmingly extraordinary experience! Add to that the fact that I saw over a year of hard work, sweat, and details in that same glimpse, and it just took my breath away. We tried our best to stop time, or at least slow it, all night long!

One thing you would change knowing what you know now:

If i had to do it over, I would have made a "must take" photo list. In hindsight, i didn't think it was necessary because we had two photographers plus a videographer plus a coordinator with two helpers. I couldn't imagine that certain family pictures wouldn't just fall into place, but even though we have tons of pro pics and we were never rushed around once, there are a few missing like a formal portrait with my Grandmother and Godparents. (I do have an amazing Photobooth pic with my G-ma, though!) One other piece of advice I'd offer future brides is to get as much as possible done ahead of time. I thought I had everything taken care of, but many details crept up on me at the very last minute. Getting a very coquettish dislocated shoulder at my first bachelorette party didn't help either! And lastly (can I add a third?), I would have absolutely 100% hired a wedding coordinator. I was on the fence about whether or not to hire one, and we were blessed to win Dazzling Affairs at a bridal event (The Wedding of the Year). Francesca and her team are the reason our day went completely smoothly without any bumps. They also put out a few fires along the way, like exchanging a groomsman's shirt when he realized it was white and not ivory!

Becky was kind enough to share her beautiful engagement photos with us and a little bit about her session.

What was the theme or feeling you were trying to get with your engagement photos:

I used to be the bridal attendant at Raphael Vineyards in Peconic, and I saw and catered hundreds of weddings. It was great because I saw so many ideas and got to form ideas of what I'd want and wouldn't want for my own wedding some day. I knew I had to incorporate it into the wedding planning somehow! Julie Petrocelli-Vergari is the Special Events Coordinator and she is the sweetest, most awesome person- she was thrilled that we were taking some photos there.

Growing up in wine country on the North Fork, I love the vineyards and the romantic, Tuscan feel of Raphael. I knew we'd get some great photos in the vineyards and in the soft lighting of the wine cellar. I would have loved a vineyard wedding but it can be costly. I am so happy I got to get some beautiful photos there!

Below is Becky's favorite pic and she also shared with us why it makes her swoon..
Jay just told us to "talk a walk" and this was a completely natural candid shot on our way back toward the winery. I love the colors (we were blessed with a perfect cloudless day on June 1) and I love how Dan looks so happy!

Coquette is a bit emotional this morning..I nearly hugged the guy at Dunkin Donuts when he handed me my latte, I did not wave my fist at anyone who cut me off this morning and I even refrained from yelling at and throwing things at the possessed feral cat who loves sleeping under my car and tries to attack me every morning...no sir..and it's all because of this couple I saw on the Today show...

Bobbi Kelly and Nick Ercoline were just a young couple in love during the summer of 1969. They knew something unbelievable was happening at Woodstock and they knew they shouldn't miss it. This image captured by Burke Uzzle, which later become the cover of the Woodstock Soundtrack album cover, is of the couple waking up one morning of the festival and embracing. They were obviously lost in what they felt for one another and lost in what Woodstock was all about.

The best part Coquettes...
they are still together and still very much in love..(insert hankies here)

"I look at it every day," Bobbi says. "I met Nick, we fell in love and it was the beginning of my best life."

I have been a sappy mess all morning thanks to these two!

My new apartment is starting to look like my reception hall decorated for my wedding. There are tons and tons of pieces and props that I could not bear to part with and it is morphing into a dollhouse or better yet a store (Mr. Coquette claims it look like everything is for sale...lol).

First wedding decor dilemma, hanging flower monogram initials that look FAB on the entryway doors..I have to admit I am getting a little over zealous with making these, they are just too much fun. I have two sets for myself and have made quite a few for other brides. IT would physically pain me to get rid of them...insert sad pouting face here...

I will update and let you know where they end up and no they won't end up in the closet where Mr. Coquette suggests we put everything!

Theme, if any

I searched high and low for a wedding theme but I couldn’t stick to just one thing.

I loved everything I saw and none if it went together! So I decided to just stick with the one thing I knew I couldn’t be without: the color BLUE. It is my favorite color and also my mother’s wedding color.

Describe your wedding dress and why you chose it

I had always been in love with the wedding dress designer Eve of Milady. All of their dresses are stunning! The first day I went dress shopping I saw it in the window and I just KNEW that was MY dress! I tried on a few dresses but that one was the one that gave me that “feeling” all brides talk about with regards to their dress. It’s made of duchess silk satin with tons of beautiful appliqué/beading detail. The back of the dress is amazing!

Your Favorite Wedding Detail

My centerpieces! I had white flowers and pearly white tablecloths and was afraid my centerpieces would drown in all the white. My florist, John at Flower Michele, came up with the idea to add blue LED lights and cellophane to the inside of each vase. I couldn’t quite picture it at first but I knew he was a flower genius and trusted any idea he threw at me. When I saw the outcome I almost cried. It was PERFECT! Simple, elegant and beautiful!

The Moment You Remember The Most

Wow, do I have to pick just one? No way! LOL

Moment #1: I had my dress on and was ready to walk out of my bedroom, Dominic of Twelfth Night Photography came in and said “Ok, when you walk to the living room I’m going to get pictures of your father looking at you for the first time”. I don’t know what it was about what he said but I broke down in tears! I turned around and went into the bathroom and had a mini breakdown! Francesca of Dazzling Affairs made sure I had my moment and that no one disturbed me. She told me to take my time and let it out. I remember telling her “I can’t do that. I just want to walk out”. When I finally did walk into the living room, Dominic made a quick joke that made me laugh and forget about my emotional moment. It was helpful to have such a great team at my side!

Moment #2: Walking into the church and looking down the aisle at my husband and looking around at all my friends and family.

One thing you would change knowing what you know now

The only thing I would change is trying not to stress and worry so much about all the things that in the end did not matter. The week of the wedding I was so stressed and so anxious and in the end everything was absolutely perfect!

Now, I know for a fact that a bridesmaid needs a tote for the day of. There are so many things going on and so many things being thrown into pockets here and there, it is a total miracle for everyone to have a bag to shove everything in. Most of these totes are cutesy bridesmaid themed bags, that are adorable but may not be used again. I implore you brides.. if you are considering a tote..consider these..they are chic and gorgeous and oh so coquettish! Again, any bride who gave me this tote would turn me into a hot gluing fool....

It falls under that Swoon category and I can say, without a doubt, these would be a perfect gift. They are precious and come in so many patterns there will definitely but something to fit any personality. A Coquette Bride..Get Ready to SWOON

Barbara and Michael were as usual DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I had the pleasure of actually attending this Coquette wedding and it was such a joy to see it all come together.

We will do a formal Coquette interview with Barbie later but I just had to share these stunning pics taken by Amanda Picone, who as usual knocked it out of the park. She is truly, truly talented and so amazingly sweet as if we needed more reason to love her. Enjoy!!

A Coquette Bridal Shower

Ilona was fantastically intuitive enough to know that her bridal shower would be something that would make me squeal with delight. I could not wait to get my coquette paws on these and when I saw them, I immediately swooned!

The theme was a yellow and white backyard fête, completely inspired by Martha (fyi, we are on a first name basis). Yellow is Ilona's favorite color but she found difficulty incorporating it into her fall wedding, it was however perfect for a summer outdoor bridal shower!

I am completely in love with how creative they got. They served Yellow Tail Chardonnay and Coronas and gave Lemon Heads and Citrus Soap as favors. The activities and games included Guess Who Bought These Panties? , the bride had to guess which guest bought the panties and if she got it right she got to keep them, if she got it wrong, the person got to decide if she could still have them. They also played Draw a Picture of the Bride and Groom on Their Wedding Day, Ilona says this was her favorite game because the pictures were so creative, she even had a mustache in one!You can see how much love and effort her bridal party put into her shower. I ADORE how everyone, even the guests have pretty dresses on!

My absolute favorite, is the butterfly who kept landing on her bridal shower banner and on her hair when she was opening gifts...

It could not have been more perfect!

Lovemorephoto shot these amazing pics and I just love how these photos really capture the genuine happiness of this group. Lovemorephoto definitely has a knack for this!! Big Hug to them! I think that this new trend of having professional photos of your bridal shower is fantastic. These are some of the greatest memories you will have and it's worth working with your photographer a few times before your wedding.

12th Night Photography

This week's Coquette is June. Her pictures are stunning and I could read her interview over and over, she is hilarious.

Theme, if any:
We definitely wanted an outdoor, daytime wedding. And figured what better way to highlight the outdoors and the daytime than a garden themed wedding! I think gardens and I think bright colors, so when I stumbled across the color scheme of pink and orange, I was head over heels in love (despite being told that it was Dunkin Donuts colors!). If you were to look into the details of the wedding though, I guess you might think our theme was more based off our color scheme - the main "garden" part of it was the fact that we got married in the gardens at our reception hall. But the pinks and oranges were laced throughout the entire hall...from the signature cocktails to the card box, place cards, invites and programs to the cake and most importantly (as my husband would say!) his tie...he was slightly obsessed!

Describe your wedding dress and why you chose it:
As you would say darling, swooon! I love my dress. When shopping my biggest concern was whether my hubs would like the dress I chose. When I asked him what he would pick for me, he had two things to say: nothing big and poofy and if you're going to get a strapless, I don't want to see you picking it up all night because all the dancing is making the dress fall below your boobies! Ha. After seeing myself in a classic "cinderella" dress I knew big and poofy was not the way to go, but I had my heart set on a strapless...which is what I got (and surprisingly, I did not have to lift it once - except for my wardrobe malfunction during the dip at the cake cutting, but that's another story!) It was ivory, had a cascading waterfall skirt, beautiful bead work and lovely lace scalloped the bottom of the chapel length train. The bead work on the back was amazing and made the bustle one of my favorite parts of the dress! It had that antique look to it, so I coordinated all of my jewelry and headpiece around that idea.

Your Favorite Wedding Detail:
The first would have to be my husband's shoes. When he told me about the shoes he was getting, I was floored. But he pulled them off and looked devastatingly handsome! The second would be our table numbers. We used our engagement pictures. The unique detail was that we picked our table numbers at random. I think the numbers wound up being 16, 62, 86, 39, 72, etc...everyone was confused, ha, but doing something goofy like that it totally "us"!

The Moment You Remember The Most:
Total cliche but seeing my husband for the first time. Without a doubt, that moment will forever be engraved in my memory - seeing his face and listening to him tell me over and over how beautiful I looked made every ounce of crazy stressful drama that took place during the planning 100% worth it. In that moment, you remember why you are doing this - because before you stands the love of your life! I have to mention one other moment because it's hilarious! As we were are about to say our vows, the priest is speaking and I see my hubs laughing. I'm appalled, I'm like who laughs at the priest when he's about to have us recite our vows?? Turns out I was in a complete lovey dovey daze...and what my husband (and everyone else for that matter!) was laughing at was...a truck that was backing up in the parking lot and all anyone could hear was BEEP BEEP BEEP. OOPS! At least a good laugh was had by all!

One thing you would change knowing what you know now
Nothing...it was 100% a dream come true. Fantabulous...

I am dying to know more about the wardrobe malfunction and am loving the hubby's shoes!

Peonies...in any shape, size or color!! Sure, my favorite flower has a bad reputation because it's not cheap and will probably wilt by the end of the night..but SWOON they were gorgeous on my big day and not too shabby by the end of the night...kind of like the bride....lol

Wedding Props 2.0

We have all been there...you are at a wedding in a lovely dress. Your date is handsome in a gray suit perhaps and yes his tie matches your dress, not in that obnoxious, obvious fashion, but in a "my take a look at that dashing, charming couple over there" way and all of a sudden it happens!

You are accosted by a plastic lei or a blow up guitar...oh the humanity!

Not sure where this started or why but the thought alone makes me break out into hives. However, I have been noticing a resurgence of Wedding Props but even better...even more creative than it's corny, hive causing predecessors....

Our Coquette this week is Allegra. What a gorgeous couple and what a gorgeous wedding. I adore the programs so simple, so chic! Enjoy, Allegra is sure to inspire!

Theme, if any: Our theme was more of a color scheme, bright purple and green, representing nature, spring, flowers... I wanted the wedding to be bright and colorful, and remind you of a beautiful garden. The one theme throughout though, was bows! I love bows, and knew I would have one on my dress, and we ended up using them to accent the wedding from the bridesmaids dresses, to the card box, to the slippers in the slipper basket!

Describe your wedding dress and why you chose it: My wedding gown was a ballgown style, sweetheart neckline, made of iridescent white taffeta, accented with a bright purple sash and big bow. I found the dress on Priscilla of Boston's website, and was immediately drawn to it. It was shown as a big ballgown with a big white bow and tails. I tried it on that day! I knew it was the one, but I didn't want a white bow. I wanted a sash (which wasn't on the original), the same bow from my bridesmaid's dresses, and the same tails from the original dress. Confused yet? The seamstress at Priscilla (Roslyn salon) totally got my vision and was amazing and made my customized gown come true!

Your Favorite Wedding Detail: My cardbox! I ordered it 9 months ahead, and couldn't wait for it! I had For the Modern Bride make it, and it came out amazingly well! The designer was great, and decided to replicate my gown on the middle part of the box. She was great to work with, and the box is still sitting in my living room! I can't bear to part with it.

The Moment You Remember The Most: Trying not to fall down the stairs as I made my first entrance to see my fiance (at the time)! I was terrified I was going to fall! He couldn't wait for me to make it all the way down, and met me up the stairs. It was amazing!

One thing you would change knowing what you know now: The one and only thing I would change, is hiring a multi-camera, cinematographic videographer. During the planning I was very sure that I didn't want a big production made of the video, but now it's my only regret. I did have a videographer, but I wish I had gone with a different kind of company.

Adventures in Paper Stalking

I know that there are a millions options for stamp personalization out there for wedding invitations. I come in defense of the United Stated Postal Service...you must realize that there are so many amazing and cool stamps that will add so much character to an envelope. It is time to move beyond your standard Love stamp, use some of that coquette in you. Alright, so not everyone, like me, inspects the stamp when they receive and invitation or thank you card but how about bringing attention to that detail.

Here are some examples of amazing stamps that I think would look snazzy on an envelope and paired with some delicious calligraphy...and have people saying..."isn't so and so clever"!!!

This is the gorgeous standard Love stamp...I am really glad the USPS stepped their game up but I also know it will be on every invitation for the next 100 years

How beautiful would these be for a nautical/beach wedding...

These Vintage Black Cinema stamps offer a stunning palette of color and would be perfect for any vintage theme.

This is one of my personal favorites. Who would not swoon over this stunning stamp. I used these on my Bridal Shower thank you cards and they made quite an impact!! Thank you...Edgar!

I am not going to lie...I would LOVE to get me some Homer mail!!!

Be sure to take advantage of coordinating stamps to cover additional postage. Layer then and color coordinate them....get all Martha on those envelopes!!

Elizabeth and Dewayne became Mr. & Mrs. in April, their wedding was chock full of gorgeous wedding details that are sure to inspire the coquette in all of us..

Theme if any - If I had to pick a word to describe what I was going for it would be simple elegance. I wanted a wedding that was intimate, warm, and inviting. Our wedding was pouring with love not just from Dewayne & I but from our families and friends. I took my time in planning because I wanted to give us something that was memorable and I wanted every detail to represent us. I picked a color combination of silver with soft peach you don’t see this often and it just went so well together.

Your Favorite Wedding Detail - I would have to say my veil because it was made from my mother wedding gown from 1978 it was sitting in my closet collecting dust so I came up with the idea of making a veil. It was a gorgeous mantilla veil the perfect keepsake.

The Moment You Remember Most- the huge smile on my husband face when he first saw me truly priceless

One Thing You Would Change Knowing What You Know Now.
I honestly don't have answer for this I feel like my day was perfection. But the advice I would give to future brides is

Never lost sight of the most important thing that your wedding is about you and your fiancé.
